Today marked the beginning of our first Adult Family Home. Upon arrival, friends signed in and were presented with a small token of vision and gratitude. The contents of this gift were a printed quote by John Wooden , “Make each day a Masterpiece,” accompanied by a stone with a word penned on it such as “Love,” “Joy,” “Inspired,” “Believe,” and “Dream,” just to name a few. It was wonderful for guests to acknowledge that the one they had chosen was very appropriate for what they wanted to experience more of.

In addition to this token of appreciation, all present were engaged in the traditional drawing for a door prize which was a $50.00 gift certificate to Cinetopia. Terrell Kuss (an objective third party) drew the winner’s name out of the 45 guests that participated. The winning recipient was Kathleen Price.

The event was underway by 11 am with light fare created, prepared and organized by Terrell Kuss (
see bio). The chicken salad served on a croissant was the hit of the event and resulted in many guests working to get the secret recipe, which Terrell has so graciously provided for us (

As our time together marched on, with relaxing music playing in the background, friends came and left. Sharing our common vision for health care was the theme that continued to bring us together, one of conscious caring for those who are unable to care for themselves any longer, one of education, one of community, and a passion for others’ well being. It is a gift that we give to each other for support and to all those who choose to join and participate in that vision.
Although the celebration ended around 3 pm, the feeling of vision, gratitude and community continues on in all that each one of us are willing to contribute, willing to believe, willing to change and willing to put into action.
A heartfelt thank you to all who were physically present and all those who took time to send an email, make a phone call and send flowers of support and well wishing.
